A startling expose of rape crimes on US campuses, their institutional cover-ups, and the devastating toll they take on students and their families. The film follows the lives of several undergraduate assault survivors as they attempt to pursue—despite incredible push back, harassment and traumatic aftermath—both their education and justice.

The song won the award for Best Song in a Documentary at the 2015 Hollywood Music in Media Awards, losing to the song "Writing's on the Wall" from the film Spectre. Another song played in the documentary is "Stay Gold" by First Aid Kit, two tracks by Lady Gaga: "Swine", was nominated for a 2016 Grammy Award in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category. "Til It Happens to You" was subsequently nominated for the 2016 Academy Award for Best Original Song
